Would you like to learn tricks and tips on how to make a better pie crust? In this class you'll learn how to make the perfect shortcrust pastry pie crust. We'll go over the different types of pastry and learn why use lard vs. butter, why do we need ice water, how do you avoid holes in your pastry, and many more pro tips on the perfect pastry.
In this hands-on class each student will make a batch of shortcrust pastry. With our pastry we'll be learning how to make hand pies. A hand pie is a small two bite pastry usually filled with sweet or savory fillings, crimped shut, brushed with egg wash, sprinkled with sugar and baked or fried. Students will be able to take home several of their own handmade hand pies.
Everyone should bring their favorite rolling pin.
