Did you know delicious hazelnuts are grown right here in Minnesota? Forty years ago, an enterprising farmer launched efforts to develop a new hazelnut that crosses the native wild varieties found in Minnesota woods with commercial varieties. Through the years, researchers from both the University of Minnesota and University of Wisconsin-Extension have supported these efforts and now you can taste the delicious results!
Join us when Mike Lilja from the American Hazelnut Company — a grower-owned company processing midwest hazelnuts — and Connie Carlson from the U of M, will be on hand to answer all your hazelnut questions while Chef Becki guides you through a menu of savory and sweet dishes featuring the all-new Midwest Hybrid Hazelnut!
Our menu will include everything hazelnut! Hazelnut pesto, Fettucine fresca all nocciola (aka Hazelnut Flour Fettucine), Hazelnut Biscotti, and Homemade Nutella. YUM!
Class price includes generous sampling of everything prepared, printed recipes, and one glass of wine, beer or non-alcoholic beverage.
